Experience:
Brian E. Comerford was in private practice for five years prior to joining the faculty of the Brooklyn School of Law in 1971. Brian lectured on estate planning, trusts and estates, and is the author and co-author of many widely used books on taxation. They include The Procedure and Law of Surrogates' Courts of the State of New York, Volume 6: Federal and New York Estate Taxes (1994 Revision), Federal Tax Deductions (2d. ed., 1992), Federal Estate and Gift Taxation (Supp. 1983-1998), and chapters on gift tax and real estate transactions in Taxation for the General Practitioner (1999). He was formerly the editor of the Journal of Taxation Digest, and the co-counsel to the New York Estates, Powers and Trust Law Advisory Committee. He is currently a member of the Board of Advisors of the Journal of Valuation. Brian dedicated himself exclusively to private practice in 2008, after more than 30 years of being a law professor.
